Welcome to the Biopsychology e-Portfolio Textbook

This e-portfolio contains all the information that you will need for this course. The tabs at the top are links to different course modules.  Within each course module are sections on the left that provide content.

Subpages:

Lectures and Terms:  This section contains the PowerPoint lectures with voice narration that stream from Youtube.com.  You can stream the videos directly from the e-portfolio page by pushing the play button or click on the YouTube icon in the lower right of the video to link to YouTube directly. At the bottom of this page is a list of terms that go with the lectures. These are the terms that you’ll need for the exams.  If the terms are underlined, than they are also hyperlinks to web resources such as definitions and wikipedia entries -- just click on the underlined term.

Videos and Images: This section contains videos and images that were chosen to specifically support the content in the PowerPoint lectures and the terms. The exams could have questions related to these videos and there will be anatomy questions coming from the images (see list of anatomy terms).

Experts: This section contains videos and or podcasts of scientists in the field of neuroscience, biology and psychology doing interesting research. There will be a quiz on this content and the readings before the class meeting scheduled to discuss the content of the module.

Readings: This section contains articles (or links to articles) on current issues related to the topic of the module. Material from these articles is also on the pre-class quiz.

Group Leader:

At the beginning of our class meetings, you will form into groups to discuss the content from the week’s section.  At two points in the semester, you will act as a group leader. You’ll take notes of the group discussion, represent the group during the class discussion and write a 300-500 word summary of the discussion session to be posted on your e-portfolio. Students are required to come to class prepared to discuss their answer to one or more of the following questions:

Discussion Questions:

  1. What was unclear about the streaming lecture?
  2. What was the most interesting thing you learned from one of the Expert page content (videos or podcasts)?
  3. What was the most interesting thing you learned from one of the readings?
  4. What was interesting but unclear from the Expert content or Readings?
  5. How is any of the content from this section related to your interests and career goals?
  6. Was there any content you disagreed with or found problematic?
  7. What connections did you find between the lecture, the articles and the videos?
