What is a hearing aid?

A hearing aid is a small electronic device that you wear in or behind your ear. The purpose is to improve the hearing and speech comprehension of people who have a hearing loss that affects the inner hair cells.

The hearing aid has a microphone, an amplifier, and a speaker.  Only about 1 out of 5 people who would benefit from a hearing aid actually use one.
