Possible Future

I believe that it is possible for the societies of the world to be destroyed in the future. For whatever reason, whether disease, war, or violent weather, our social institutions and ways of life could be completely eliminated. While this may sound apocalyptic and depressing, the destruction could result in a rebirth of humanity, similar to the way the mythological phoenix is reborn from its ashes.  The survivors would have the ability to create a new and unique society that would hopefully become a utopia. Unfortunately, it will mostly likely become a dystopia since the people will probably struggle from similar problems that we face today; humanity has the regrettable ability to forget the mistakes of the past and ignore the importance of history. While this scenario has been the basis of hundreds of books and movies, I do feel that it is entirely possible.

Probable Future

The probable future is that societies will continue to be strained by lack of resources, population growth, wars, etc. Civilizations won’t be completely destroyed, but they will continue to be stressed to the point that they weaken. People will attempt to solve these problems, but not everyone will agree with the possible solutions. This, unfortunately, will result to in grid lock in politics and society and by the time that everyone can agree the damage will be irreparable. This probable future is why it’s so important for people realize the significance of these problems and come to an agreement before it’s too late.

Preferable Future

I hope that the future will be much more optimistic than I’ve been predicting. Ideally, societies around the world will only be strengthened as we all work together to actively solve the global problems that we will be facing. If activism and unity could be our future then other problems that are less significant and less global could be addressed and solved as well.  This would make for a promising world where positive change could actually be achieved and the goodness of humanity would be exemplified.
