Tara proudly joined the WJTV 12 news team in Jackson, Miss. in Sept. 2018. She moved from White County, Ark., where she previously reported for The Daily Citizen newspaper as an investigative journalist and general assignment reporter. 

 

While there, she was awarded 1st-place "Best News Story, 2018" by the Arkansas Press Association, as well as 2nd-place "Best Coverage of Education."

 

Tara is seasoned in breaking news, live-coverage, feel-good feature stories and investigative journalism. Additionally, she produces digital content, which generates a wealth of viewer engagement.

 

As a multimedia journalist, she is highly skilled at storytelling on all platforms, while efficiently writing, shooting and editing packages for broadcast and web.

 

Tara earned her bachelor's degree in mass communication and broadcast journalism at California State University in Fresno, where she was born and raised. In college, she was debate team champion. 

 

After college, Tara went on to intern at ABC and NBC affiliate stations in Fresno, before working in production at KHOG TV in Rogers, Ark. 

 

Prior to journalism, she worked as a veterinary technician, for her loves of animals.

 

Tara is grateful to have traveled the world and says her favorite place to have visited was Egypt, for the country's rich history and culture.

 

In her spare time, she spends time with family, attends church services, enjoys reading biographies, books on law and self-help literature. 

 

Tara is eager to use her abilities to give voice to matters in communities where help is needed, through investigation and storytelling.
